COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says he's been having an affair with a woman from Argentina and will resign as head of the Republican Governors' Association.

The married father of four emotionally apologized to his wife, staff and others at a news conference after returning Wednesday from a trip to Argentina that followed a dayslong absence. His staff had said the Republican was hiking on the Appalachian Trail.

Sanford says he met the woman about eight years ago and it became romantic about a year ago. He says his wife and family have known about it for the past five months. End

What a shock it must have been to Sanford's wife to learn that neither her money, political clout nor her body were enough for this degenerate who fathered her children. And now she must worry about future blood tests. Heaven only knows what she could now be infected with, compliments of an Argentina whore and a Christian prick. The ghost of sweet Maria may very well haunt her for the rest of her life.

Go get him boys...Glenn McCall, one of two national representatives to the Republican National Committee and a county party chairman, said Thursday that party members want Sanford out. He said Sanford should practice the philosophy he's preached of holding GOP leaders accountable.

"He talked about how our leaders have stepped away from our core values and said one thing on the campaign trail or out in the public and did something different in the background," McCall said. "I think our party can recover from this if we hold him accountable and the governor does the right thing and resigns for the sake of the party."
