As I have said, I've known John McCain since 1969. I've talked with the man, flown with him, and threatened to kick his face in. I can assure you that John McCain finds the far right-wing morons that are attracted to Sarah Palin repulsive. The Palin family would not want to hear the private conversations between John and Cindy McCain about them.
I've been around politicians all my adult life, and I've never known one like Palin. She has dodged the media and when she agreed to answer a few basic questions, "What do you read?" threw her for a loop. God forbid someone ask her a really hard question like whose picture is on your husband's driver license.
I was asked yesterday what advice I'd give McCain. The first thing I'd tell him would be, "When you discover you're in a hole, stop digging." and "Stop trying to be George W. Bush and just be John McCain." The right-wing bigots and racists are not going to vote for Obama. They will either vote for McCain or not vote. So, in my opinion, McCain should have wined and dined the Independents, and he could have done so by being himself. He then would have picked up a lot of Democrats who are not sure about voting for a black man. As it is, he is alienating everyone but the Palin idiots.
Have a nice day,
Bob Miller
