T he Military Police are exceptional people. They provide assistance and devote their time and skills to local and military projects and to our country's call to war. I was a member of the famed 745 Military Police Company (Thunderbirds). This unit was formed in 1969 and retired its colors in 1996. The 745 was known for many events and honors, and citations from the United States Military.
- Assisted in the Macalister, Oklahoma Prison riot
.1974 - Assisted Oklahoma City residents in cleaning up damage from a tornado that had occurred.
- Guarded Vietnamese refugees at Ft. Chaffee, Ar.
- Helped dedicate the Army Lexington Aviation Center
- Guarded Cuban refugees at Ft. Chaffee, Ar.
- Assisted the military Police at Ft. Clayton, Panama
- Assisted the Military Police at Ft. Davis, Panama
- Prepared for the Gulf War
- Served in the Persian Gulf
- Assisted in the disaster of the OKC Alfred P. Murrell building bombing by providing check points and helping out whereever needed.
- The 745 Military Police Company converted over to a Mechanized Unit. The unit's name unknown to me, I had already discharged by then.
The Military Police are known to provide security, serve as infantry rifleman, work in dangerous hotspots and work long hours, perform garrison duties or to go wherever and however needed by the United States.
