This is my first poem I made for my Eighth Grade Language Arts class.
It is about 9/11, which is obvious if you read it.
My teacher really liked it and was amazed I had written it.
It was the best student-written piece of work in the class.
If you are readin the trimmed part, it is four stanzas long not two
It is called:
That Day
On the day that four airplanes crashed
Our nation's beiefs in safety were trashed
Everyone thought that we were best
And those who saw through tried telling the rest
That this may happen to us one day
And we were not as prepared as people say
Everyone on the streets froze
Everyone sitting saw it and rose
One tower was flaming while people just stared
You could tell even the worst of society cared
Then the second tower was hit just as hard
And then you could tell our nation was scarred
A third plane hit the Pentagon
People knew this terror might still go on
The Capitol Building was the next target
So people fled behind barriers set
But the passengers on flight 93
Fought the terrorists valiantly
Brave people saved others on a whim
Even though the situation was grim
After that day our security got tougher
After that day our laws got rougher
Heroic people died so others could stay
All of this happened because of that day
