If you read Ezekiel 38-39, and also correlate what the book of Revelation speaks of, regarding the end battle; there is shown, the context by which God's time frame is revealed. As Revelation 12 has a specific present tense occurrance that was not in Jesus' day; there is revelation concerning how the testimony of Jesus Christ is given into that present tense context. The spiritual fulfillment that came from the Holy Spirit baptizing Jesus, and the angels ascending and descending upon Him, and His ministry beginning, is found in how all of eternity is already fully established in God. Therefore when the ministry of Christ began, which was the ministry of which He would later fully complete and ascend into heaven afterwards; spiritually the seed that was in Jesus already contained the fullness of that. Just as His seed in us, contains all of eternity, according to our promises, though also, certain things may not have fully happened yet. In looking at things this way, the seven years in Ezekiel 39 in which Israel was burning the weapons of Gog and Magog; these seven years begin at the beginning of the seven years of the Tribulation; though also the end battle including Gog and Magog does not fully occur until the end of the 1,000 year reign, as shown in Revelation. In looking at these things this way, it is also true that as soon as Jesus was born, God's eternal seed was in Him. Though these things are true, it is important to find out the specific context of passages, in regards to their time frame also.
Knowing these things, we may first understand, through reading about how God sent Gog and Magog against Israel, according to Ezekiel 38, that the foolish shepherd from Zechariah is leading Gog and Magog. But doesn't Revelation show Satan deceiving the people once again, and bringing the ends of the earth, and Gog and Magog against Israel and Christ? Yes, but the LORD OF HOSTS, is the One who let that happen, by which also, through having victory over all who come against Him and His beloved; His name is hallowed (Ezekiel 38-39), against those who honor Him with the lips, but not with the heart- these also being the same ones who wish to rule over others who are God's people.
According to Zechariah, as those who are saved in God flee through His mountain valley, they are preserved from the attack. Also, according to prophecy, Hezekiah, after having been restored by the LORD, let the Babylonian envoys view all of the treasure. Even though by the time of the end battle, Babylon is fallen; there is symbol in these things, regarding the beginning and end of the seven years, as shown above. In this way, just as in time's past, when God's wrath was against Israel, His remnant is saved; just as also, 15 years was added onto Hezekiah's life. As it says in Isaiah, concerning those who drank from the cup of the LORD, this pertaining to the people who bore the things of His wrath, just as we are to look to Him from the cleft, being on the cross with Christ, and walking as He did; through the seeking of Him by the remnant, His wrath is taken away from them, and given into the hands of both Babylon, and the people of Israel, who still rejected Him.
The difference between Gog and Magog, and the army of Ezekiel 37, is that the army of Ezekiel 37 does not take stance against God's people; but seeks His Promises. Then after God brings destruction upon those who fight against Him and His people, the fullness of the remnant, who is the real Israel (as Paul said that not all who are Israel are the real Israel, as some only honor Him with the lips, and walk by works, sight, and the flesh, who also continue to reject Him, and willfully fight against Him), the entire house of the remnant, even those who were scattered apart, are found in Him. God's people burning the weapons of war from the people of Gog and Magog, and also burying the people of Gog and Magog: this is the same symbolism of the 1,000 year reign, and the collecting of spoil *by the army in Ezekiel 37: who is also praising God for their inheritance, just as armies battled in the OT by praising God.
There is even more assurance in God, for those who love Him and are saved, knowing that the attacks of darkness will not prevail; and that His Promises are sure and steadfast.
