One of the biggest ways that faith can be worked out, as a muscle, is through time. Time then allowing people to be able to continue to add on to what they believe, and thus also position themselves to believe more and more. This isn't wrong, or the exact definition of a chakra, as if doing this is witchcraft. Actually, in truth, this is what is required to grow in faith and believing, whether it is towards God or not. As we walk in God, we are not given a labyrinth, but we are given a race to run and a fight to fight, as we keep faith. And in our race and in our fight, though the Bible does say that we are to strive for the straight and narrow gate, and though this may sound contradictory, our race and fight might include things that seem to include turns, as in changes of direction. We may know that our path in God remains straight, though we may be turning or moving this way or that way.
One major way that God has set up His purpose and pleasure in His people, is through the meaning of being His chosen. This was present in the OT as well, as Israel was set up as the kingdom that God had chosen and desired to remain with. In this way, the world was allowed to see what the kingdom of God looked like, though the Jews and Israel did also stumble. When Christianity begins to turn into a Puritan church, people actually move away from being a lamp on a hill, into attempting to go out into the world, make other people like themselves, and purify what they believe is dirty. The difference is in what it means to be chosen. During the OT, no one was going to come unto God, without understanding what God did, when He chose Israel. Without understanding that, it didn't matter what people did, as in regards to morals, or works, as if they could come into being in right standing with God. And along with this, anyone who attempted to balance and or judge anything, as in regards to Israel being given the gift of God's favor, would not be able to actually find truth, without understanding that Israel was God's chosen. It is the same regarding the new covenant, and how Christians are to be a lamp on a hill. It doesn't matter what anyone does or doesn't have, if being chosen in God isn't addressed. And this may sound as if God is giving partiality towards those He chooses, but the fairness is found in how anyone could have the fullness of every good and perfect gift in God, if they came unto Him in light of what it means to be chosen in Him.
When James spoke about saying 'if it is God's will we will do this or that,' he was giving the foundation for first actually receiving the spiritual knowledge of God, where our calling in Him isn't just based on blanket statements and facts about what God's desires are, and how we can follow Him. And along with what James said about that, he spoke about boasting sinfully. And even though it is sinful to walk against what he said, in making plans, and preparing to do things, people can still seem to be profitable and have good fruit, though they are not actually in God's direct will and purpose, and are boasting sinfully. In the same way, God gives for anyone who works, to receive prosperity still. This is true just as God even gives the fool his wages. Therefore even the most sinful people can still be blessed by having a type of prosperity from their works. But this does not mean that someone is in His exact will, and is chosen in Him, and not just called, as God says that many are called but few are chosen.
