Alright, I'm back, no one call me a false prophet just yet.
Tonight a certain topic came forth: "How does Satan fight, and where and how does that manifest?"
I am pretty sure most people have heard this, in regards to the War in Iraq: "We're fighting over there, so that we don't have to fight over here." As insensitive as this may sound, it may hold some truth. And for perspective, the last war fought on American soil was the Civil War. Spiritually the above question is answered from this: 'we fight Satan on his ground, not ours.' However, the sensitivity of Christ is also brought up in this, because He surely fought His war with His own flesh. Knowing that, merely trying to fight Satan on his grounds is lukewarm, plus, we could even add in the analogy of what it would mean if we had undercover agents in the Middle East, and I think that this brings up some things, in regards to Tool, and A perfect circle. For me, to be able to fully love Tool and A Perfect Circle, is something that is so wonderful; also, as their music is one of the best there is and has ever been. And on top of that, Maynard's picture isn't up in every magazine, but what did Kurt Cobain say? "Oh well, whatever, never mind." And that phrase, which is a lyric at the end of "Smells like Teen Spirit," does have other meanings, such as one lyric that he wrote, which wasn't a part of “Smells like Teen Spirit” when produced: "Who will be the next king and queen of the teens?" Which can be read in the biography "Come as you are," another song on the album "Nevermind." There also was some media things concerning Nirvana's stardom, in which they were asking who would be the next Nirvana. But the 'oh well whatever nevermind' does have to do with popularity, just as some things concerning it, which I think were a part of Kurt's 'thing,' include being cool, through trying not to be. And thus being one's self, and I think that this is where the next song on "Nevermind" comes in, which was "In Bloom," of which there is also a video; and Nirvana and Tool's videos can be seen for free on Yahoo, just to let people know.
But here is even the BIGGER picture:
Why did God command the Jews to not test Him, when Malachi says to test the LORD regarding tithing, and when Isaiah says to test Him concerning our sins being taken away, and the former things that were in our lives being taken away, and the judgments that we think we have from God?
Deuteronomy 6:16
“You shall not tempt the LORD"
Matthew 4:5-7
the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
‘ He shall give His angels charge over you,’
and,
‘ In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”
Malachi 3:10
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the LORD of hosts,
“ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
Isaiah 41:1
1 “Keep silence before Me, O coastlands,
And let the people renew their strength!
Let them come near, then let them speak;
Let us come near together for judgment.
Isaiah 41:21-23
21 “ Present your case,” says the LORD.
“ Bring forth your strong reasons,” says the King of Jacob.
22 “ Let them bring forth and show us what will happen;
Let them show the former things, what they were,
That we may consider them,
And know the latter end of them;
Or declare to us things to come.
23 Show the things that are to come hereafter,
That we may know that you are gods;
Yes, do good or do evil,
That we may be dismayed and see it together.
Isaiah 43:9
9 Let all the nations be gathered together,
And let the people be assembled.
Who among them can declare this,
And show us former things?
Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified;
Or let them hear and say, “It is truth.”
Isaiah 43:25-26
“ I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake;
And I will not remember your sins.
26 Put Me in remembrance;
Let us contend together;
State your case, that you may be acquitted.
So did God say to not test Him in the Law, and then did the prophet's say to go ahead and test Him? It may be clear that the 'spirit' and 'heart' behind it is what matters, but there must be more than Spirit, if we are talking about God, because His Word is substance, even to the Spirit. The truth is found in how true meekness of the LORD doesn't just mean being quiet or mildly tempered, but actually means to obey the voice of the LORD, just as out of His heart, His mouth speaks. Moses and Abraham were meek, obeying and loving the voice of the LORD, as they pleaded with the LORD for the Israelites, and Sodom and Gomorrah, even though the LORD said that He was going to destroy them. And therefore, in regards to the LORD being tempted, tested, or tried, and in whatever translation, it is meekness that fulfills His Spirit and His Word, and them being given into those who believe. This does also have meaning, as with the rest of Deuteronomy 6:16:
"'as you tempted Him in Massah.'"
It is the true meekness of the LORD, which is discerned apart from just complaining, as it was the complaints of Israel which led unto those who gave the bad report falling away beyond repentance. And this is true, even though David poured out his complaints before the LORD, and it was his meekness that was the dividing line between complaining and giving a bad report, and giving a good report, just as Psalm 89, and other Psalms such as Psalm 44 seem to include complaints that are not evil.
