It is the foreknowledge of God which gives us to overcome and to be able to choose what is right and wrong, as in dealing with the knowledge of good and evil. It is also the foreknowledge of God, which gives us the truth of the new birth, just as we already need to have His Spirit, talent, and knowledge of perfection to even be able to repent. When Paul spoke in Philippians about letting go of the things that are behind, he is foremostly speaking about the sinful condition, just as he also speaks in other places about what he calls the 'old man.' The foundation that Paul is speaking about when he talks about letting go, is in no longer having this: "I want to be a sinner." When he then goes on to speak about reaching forward to the things that are ahead, and pressing toward the goal for the prize of the upward call in Christ, he is speaking about saving what was lost, and working out salvation, as in regards to reconciliation, just as the Bible speaks about having beauty for ashes, and other promises such as that. And this is the context by which Jesus said "No one who putting their hand to plow, who looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God." And so the root of what all these things are saying, is no longer believing "I still want to be a sinner." As the church did not believe in the truth about the new birth, what happened, was that the verse in Philippians 3 that I just quoted, about letting go of the things that were behind, got turned into 'letting go and letting God,' and then gaining one's own initiative. But that is actually the falsehood of the Antichrist, and the way that the Antichrist and antichrist spirits are a counterfeit of God. And within this, the doctrine of reconciliation, as it is truly found in Spirit and truth regarding the new birth, was actually turned into new age beliefs, as the foundation for the truth of the new birth was taken away, just as people did not believe that they could be born again incorruptible, perfect, and sinless.
In letting go of the things that are behind, we are not having our faith include us letting go, just as faith is the spiritual knowledge of God, which is a substance, and what needs to be possessed for someone to be walking in the Spirit. But our faith in God is to be our coming together unto His oneness, by which we put off the 'old man' regarding having been sinners, and still sowing as if we are sinners. Therefore in this true way of faith, it is only our feet which get dirty, as Jesus spoke of in the gospel of John. And this is also the fulfillment of what Jesus spoke in the gospels, as He spoke about us being able to have our whole body be full of light. 'Letting go and letting God' actually quenches the Spirit, and leads into grieving Him. And this is also the reason that our rest in God, does not mean that we are not supposed to wholly seek Him, even if it means going through affliction or worse. Our rest in God, is supposed to be us coming together into His oneness, and even striving for it, as His oneness is the straight and narrow gate. And therefore, just as God rested on the seventh day, but has been working since the beginning, our rest in God means to no longer be alone. What Jesus spoke about regarding us losing our lives, and even hating our loved ones, means that the oneness of God that we sow to, must actually me completely undefiled in Him, and thus not mixed with any corruption, as if we are allowing a peace and safety that does not actually remain in His zeal, which is supposed to wholly seek love and oneness. But this does not mean that we take away every relationship, or that we only walk based on the dictates of our own heart and mind, as that would be sacrificing in the clefts, but it means that we are to have the sure and steafast hope, by which we give up the prosperity that can remain in the world for a little while, and strive for the fullness of His Promises, love, and oneness. These things are the reasons why Sardis and Laodicea are found in the Bible, as to thinking that they are right with God, when in truth they aren't. And so the answer isn't that we just attempt to worship nothingness, but that we make every effort, and remain in His confidence so that we can truly bring all things into incorruption. Therefore, even the things that we have in this earth which are still corruptible, may still be brought into incorruption, just as with things such as eternal marriage in heaven.
