To belong

Through the love of God, we may receive worth, we may receive the knowledge of contentment that is not found in what we let go of, but in who we are and what we have. When we look at the names of God, "Yahweh" and "Jehovah" we may distinguish and gain the love, life, and Promises of God. Even though we also may receive worth in who we are in God, we may go beyond that, in receiving worth concerning what we have. There could arise discouragment, as only knowing who we are as to having worth may seem to fall short, if we possess nothing, by which we may enjoy being who we are. God goes beyond giving us worth in who we are, into giving us worth, concerning what we have. And the possession of things that we can have in Him, is not legalistic, as if only having worth in who we are should be enough. In the world and even in the church, but in the world especially, there is emphasis on what a person can do. And this gives a certain type of 'spirit' or essence of earning, which actually combats the value there is in having worth based on who we are. When God gives us to have rewards, He is going beyond giving who we are to have worth, but He is also giving us to reap from the value and worth of who we are. When God gives rewards, though this may sound contradictory, He is not giving them, based on us earning them, even though the very nature of receiving a reward may seem to say otherwise. Within the essence of earning, people only receive rewards according to how much pain they can take, or what they can let go of, which is really just another way of 'taking pain.' However, the rewards of God come through our sensitivity and not our own strength. For example, the Bible says that the eyes of the LORD go to and fro on the earth, searching for those who fear Him, and He shows Himself strong on their behalf. Our sensitivity is found in how much we notice God, and then love Him, through waiting for Him and serving Him. In this, we gain His strength in the night season, and receive His rewards which are of abundant worth. The name of God "Yahweh" may be defined as "I am," and in this worth that is based on who a person is, is emphasized. The name of God "Jehovah" may be defined as "I have," and in this the fruit of what we reap and share based on who we are in Him is emphasized. The name Yahweh correlates to the name Jehovah, just as we can breath in and out.

Therefore the surety of the Promises of all things that are in God is unwavering, just as the be-attitudes, in this respect. And along with this, we may also know, that even if we suffer as we sow and receive both the worth of who we are and what we have in Him, that if we do not lose heart, we will receive His reward. The very idea of possession, especially in the liberal world we live in, may seem legalistic and even disrespectful. However, it is one of the most fulfilling things there is, to belong, and belonging includes both the full acceptance of who someone is, and the full measure of what is shared.

Isaiah 40:27
Why do you say, O Jacob,
And speak, O Israel:

“ My way is hidden from the LORD,
And my just claim is passed over by my God”?

Isaiah 49:4
‘I have labored in vain,
I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain;
Yet surely my just reward is with the LORD,
And my work with my God.’
