The Art Of War As Told By A Modern-Day Teenager - Chapter 3

     Diagnose yourself with perfection.

Train with enthusiasm and if you don't already enjoy training, then you probably shouldn't be fighting. However, if you're earnest about your fight, make yourself believe you enjoy it by telling yourself you like it while you're doing it, and cause yourself to feel happy. Also, smiling makes it easier to elicit happy feelings. When you train, make yourself feel happy and smile.
Mental visualization trains your mind and body to perform better. By imagining yourself doing something that you wish to do, your mind strengthens synapses between brain cells. This is because the subconscious part of your mind cannot distinguish fantasty/imagination from reality. This can be summed up by the phrase, "You become what you think you will become." When you visualize yourself succeeding, you're training yourself to succeed. This can be applied to disciplining yourself to learning a new skill. When you visualize, use more than one sensory organ for a greater effect. For example, if someone wanted to get a better front flip, they would SEE their self doing a front flip, they would FEEL their legs tense up with each point of impact in their mind, they would HEAR every step and the *WHOOSH* of their body in the air, they would TASTE the sweat running down their face and they would SMELL the fresh grass they see their self practicing on, all at once. This can be applied to practicing anything.
Taking an ice bath (or just soaking used muscles in ice) for approximately ten minutes after an intense workout will increase blood flow to the area used, therefore causing your muscles to heal faster. If you go under that time period, the only thing that can happen is you won't heal as fast. If you go over that time, however, you increase your chance of frostbite, and then your workout was worthless. When your body is cold, your blood cells dilate, making blood flow easier. Don't do this more than three times a week at most.
If you have any infections, skin problems, or other defect, work on getting it resolved as soon as possible. Just as soon as you feel that your body has become perfect, it makes it easier for you to feel perfect and increases your attention, focus, and sense of reality.
Find people that share your point of view and that are willing to support you. This will boost your ability to perform, just as a crowd rooting for a team boosts their morale.

This is what I mean when I say, "Diagnose yourself with perfection." A negative self-image will decrease your performance, and when you're at conflict with someone, you will want your performance to be at it's peak. Many people put limits on their self, falling in to a routine, believing that their routine is as far as they can push their self and still be healthy. You have no limit other than what it presented to you by God and that which you put on yourself, and God's limit for you is more than likely much higher than you could image, so stop limiting yourself and push yourself beyond what you believe the limit is. Think you're done now that you're exhausted? I'm sure this is no surprise, but you're not done!
