It's not what HE sees.
If both your opponent and you feel too weak to continue your fight, boast about feeling strong. This will weaken your opponent's spirits and boost yours, both at the same time. By saying it, if your opponent still tries to attack you, adrenaline will kick in and help you to fight. More than likely, however, your opponent will think you have crazy good stamina and retreat, for fear of being destroyed by you.
If both your opponent and you feel strong, make your opponent feel as though you're not up for fighting. Your opponent will want to rush you and try to get the upper hand, and will more than likely become cocky. Whether they do or not, they are rushing in to an opponent that is feeling strong, and that's not a good idea.
Attack when your opponent appears to be weak, but do not attack them lightly, as they may be feigning. It's better to crush your opponent and be safe then to gloat in victory and then be crushed. Not to mention, it's probably embarrassing.
When your opponent appears to be strong, evaluate his resources and immediate past. If he's just gotten over troubles or is still in trouble right now due to a lack of resources, he's bluffing. Rush him and take the upper hand. Use his problems against him to distract him. Refer to Chapter 1.
Have the crowd of people that you found after you read Chapter 4 (because you DID do that, after all, right?) disguise themselves as people that are neutral in your fight who just happened to find out about it and decide to support you. The effect of having people that are neutral turn to your side instead of his will lower his morale. Then, advertise it. Make a big deal out of it. He won't know that they were your people in the first place, and will think that you just won more friends and potential teammates.
This is what I mean when I say, "It's not what HE sees." Make your opponent think you're in complete control of all the situations that happen between the two of you, and he'll feel hopeless and his attack will be light. He cannot fight with motivation.

More to come. I need to meditate on Sun Tsu's words for the remaining chapters and apply my own philosophy before I can jot it down though, of course!
