There Is Nothing Complicated About It

As a Republican, I just want to gag when I hear the sociopaths in our party talk about family values. Oh, I understand why. Even though the Christian Fundamentalists know the truth, if you want their money and vote, you'd better convince them that you believe the Jonah and the whale story. But just for a second, let's not listen to one of Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson's old speeches; instead consider the #1 rule for discovering why people do the things they do, and that is "Follow the money".

To My Honorable Republican Representatives

Summary: Political Burials

Dear Republican Representatives: As a registered Republican and a wholesaler of top quality caskets and handcrafted urns, it is my profound pleasure to offer each of you, at my cost, the casket or urn of your choice to bury your political careers in.

Not in the history of the Republican Party have Republicans elected to county, state and federal offices come together as one body to exhaust every possible avenue of misappropriation of public funds, to show total disregard for international and domestic laws, and commit and/or condone war crimes and acts of genocide as you have.

Burying McCain Before He's Dead

That's right; McCain, you and your George W. Bush policies are going to be buried alive. Republicans like me who served in Vietnam where I was shot down not once, but twice, know you can't balance a checkbook. We know that you know nothing about keeping America safe because you couldn't even keep yourself safe. You lost your aircraft, got captured, and never once tried to escape or help any fellow POWs escape for five years, clearly ignoring Article III of the United States Military Code of Conduct.

Where Have All The War Jobs Gone?

The Iraq war has cost us all a great deal. In terms of the taxes, we’ve paid heavily towards invading Iraq needlessly, and we continue to pay towards the ongoing war effort. In terms of the economy, we’ve paid the price thanks to NAFTA and service contract outsourcing. In terms of human lives, we’ve paid the price with our young adults. But from the wreckage of Iraq and the disaster of an invasion that took place initially, the advantages of war have been cast to foreign shores, diverting jobs from the struggling US employment market to the detriment of the economy.

Two Dangerous Men

It is most appropriate that George W. Bush and John McCain are meeting behind closed doors because that's where the two Bush terms were won. But we must remember not to attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. The good news is, what these two lack in leadership and integrity is made up for in arrogance and pig-headedness.

Eisenhower Republican Is Not An Excuse

Even though I have spent every dime I could get my hands on since 1976 campaigning against the Bush dynasty, as a Republican, I do sincerely apologize for George W. Bush, the worst president in the history of this country. And I hope that after he leaves office, our country will once again make understanding, principles, and character its first line of defense because as we now know, jet fighters and aircraft carriers are no match for hatred.

President Potato Head and His Christian Soldiers

Around the world people are rediscovering the Solanum tuberosum, a starchy tuberous root vegetable that was first cultivated in Peru some 7,000 years ago, or so says Wikipedia. In the US we produce an average of about 450 million hundredweight (112 pounds) of potatoes each year. That's a bit more than one potato, two potato, three potato, or four. And you can expect that tonnage to increase in direct proportion to the decrease of dollars in peoples’ pockets. That's not all of the bad news; those dollars, wherever they're being kept, are being devalued.

I'm Very Sad

LONDON - Paul Scofield , the towering British stage actor who won international fame and an Academy Award for the film "A Man for All Seasons," has died. He was 86.

I Do Not Use A Spoon, I Use A Shovel

"I would say, by any commonsense definition, we are in a recession," Billionaire Warren Buffett said on CNBC.

I asked a fellow a few days ago how he could afford to drive his Hummer back and forth to work? He said, "I do not do that anymore. I lost my job two weeks ago. But do not say I told you so. I am just not in the mood for it right now."

I answered, "I know the feeling. I was not in the mood for it either after election 2004. But that did not bother you one bit. You poured it on. Now live with it Bushie."

He has not spoken since and that is okay with me. These Bush supporters were the best ever at dishing it out, but they cannot take it. Well, I do not use a spoon to feed these morons their own medicine, I use a shovel.
