This blog, a host of other blogs, forums, message boards, internet sites where I post and my website that has been on the internet for the last six years, 2001-2008—are each and all part of a tapestry of poetry and prose that I have created across the internet. This literary creation by this self-employed individual, this retired teacher and lecturer who is now 64, attempts to endow various themes and a wide range of social science and humanities subjects with many layers of meaning. In these six years on the internet I have evoked a complex range of responses in readers who come upon my work, responses which range from lavish enthusiasm to utter indifference and quite intense criticism.

ROMAN HISTORY
Jim Heitmeyer
28 November 2007
The City of Rome is where early Latin settlers settled somewhere around the year 1000 BC. These early settlements were a far cry from anything like a large city. They lived in primitive round huts, raised cattle, pigs, goats and herded sheep. This is how the mighty city of Rome began. So, most people ask how these archaic beginnings lead to a city that would one day rule the entire world.

History of Terrorism by Jim Heitmeyer
Terrorism : Systematic use of violence, terror, and intimidation to achieve an end.
History of Terrorism
The events of 9/11 and daily news from the Middle East might make terrorism seem like a modern problem. Unfortunately, it has a long and bloody history. Terror as a weapon began almost with the history of man. The word terrorism was first used in France in the late 1700s and early eighteenth century.
Leaders of the French Revolution used terror to force people to submit to their authority. In what was called the "Reign of Terror," citizens were locked up, tortured, and guillotined. French scholars of the time defined terrorism as "the system or rule of terror."

6 Year Anniversary of 9/11
I remember
sitting in the classroom
taking notes and listening to the teacher
all of a sudden
the teacher heres a crash
her face turns red as an apple
and she stands in awe
the class turns around
and is frightened
the twin towers just got hit
by a plane.
All the kids and teachers
running down the stairs
into the auditorium
till parents come and pick their kids up
I realize now
its 6 years ago
that all of this happened
Many heroes fell
for trying so hard
to save others
and many innocent people to
God bless New York City
Rest In Peace
I'll always remember
